Research & Development
A blockchain solution designed to make logistics and document processes more secure, traceable and efficient.
BRIE develops the technological core of a distributed Data Clean Room for logistics, designed to track goods, manage documentation and foster collaboration among operators across Europe, while simplifying administrative and customs procedures.
Blockchain, cryptography and smart contracts work together to ensure traceability, integrity and control over access to information.

At the core of the solution is a blockchain protocol that records and notarizes the different stages involved in the transit of goods and the related document process, enabling real-time traceability and making the source and authenticity of information verifiable.
Data is encrypted and stored in a distributed environment through IPFS. Attribute-based encryption and smart contracts manage access, integrity and links to process data, allowing information owners to determine who can access it.
Document source and authenticity can be verified throughout the process.
Visibility is defined by data owners, including for sensitive or commercially confidential information.
Goods movements and document exchanges are updated throughout transit.
IPFS ensures continuous availability and authenticity of documents.

Simplify access to and exchange of documentation, reducing manual steps and administrative tasks.
Provide authorities with shared, verifiable and up-to-date information.
Reduce fraud, document forgery and collusion among operators, increasing the reliability and verifiability of shared information.
Foster new synergies among operators and a more efficient use of shared resources across storage and transit operations.

The project brings together technological, academic and industrial expertise to develop and validate the solution.
